“With God, everything is possible!” is Kathryn’spersonal faith declaration. The firm belief that there are no impossibilities with God has enabled her to be a success at professional and ministerial endeavors she has embarked upon.
Growing up in the heart of Los Angeles, California and attending Langston University, a Historically Black University, in Oklahoma, and later attending Azusa World Azusa World Ministries / Ministry Training Institute, in Phoenix, Arizona, has given her a broad prospective of her societal responsibilities. She has been influenced and inspired by an array of mentors from Dr. Myles Munroe and Maya Angelou, to Pastor Joshua Mangram and professional cultural lecturer, Xan Lundgold.
Kathryn recognized that her desire to be a servant, coupled with her entrepreneurial spirit could purposefully integrate the world with God’s business! During a 12-year career in nursing, she became the Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities for the City of Glendale, Arizona - Government. During her career, she started Guardian’s Choice Healthcare, a staffing agency that met the healthcare needs of disabled children in the Glendale Union High School District, the Upward for Children and FamiliesFoundation, MGA Home Healthcare for Pediatrics, and various healthcare facilities and schools within the state of Arizona. Kathryn authored the state’s nursing policy and procedure manual for schools that service children with disabilities. She has also pioneered the medical food and supply exchange, which services low-income disabled children in the metro Phoenix and Glendale areas. Kathryn went on to diversify her portfolio by establishing Kat & Dodie's Fish & Deli and Catering, in which she was contracted to serve companies such as General Electric, Angels Baseball Camp, and Bio-Source of Arizona.
While she feeds people physically, she also feeds people spiritually and has created an inspirational blog titled, “The Black Citizen” at www.KathrynMckinney.wordpress.com, and “The Faith Forum” in the Write-Up Newspaper, a monthly print-based urban newspaper circulated throughout Arizona and Nevada. Writing proved to be a very effective method of ministry for Mrs. Kathryn S. McKinney, as it enabled her to reach a diverse and national audience, through national magazines like the Atlanta Black Star and her very own nationally acclaimed and recognized “Spoken Words” A Black Women of Faith Publishment of which she is the CEO. Her creative writings and sale techniques landed her a position as Sales Consultant with Sashi Natural Hair Extensions(Sapp and Sapp Hair Imports), the first Black Owned India Hair Manufacturers. She is the company’s lead Representative for the Arizona, Nevada, Albuquerque & California states. Through personal experience, she knows walking in purpose creates manifold blessings, and she strives to help others find that place of peace and increase.
Her passion for purposeful living prompted the creation of the International Black Women of Faith Association (BWF), America’s largest Social Network of Christian and Muslim Black Women, in October 2010. As Founder, and President,Kathryn brings awareness to women of all nationalities, by encouraging them to unearth, unveil, and uncover their own personal purpose through the thoughtful expression and exploration of their gifts and talents. She currently dons the position of President for the Arizona National Action Networkfor the AZ Chapter of Maricopa County under the leadership of Rev. Al Sharpton. She has been honored to host several rallies for victims of police brutality and others that have been racially and economically discriminated against in the State of Arizona. (ie. Her God ordained responsibility of promoting awareness of the Black contribution to society in the United States, has prompted her to produce “The Black History Summer School” program, which services children and adults alike. She knows that education, and the pursuit of purpose, is what it will take to release our people, our communities, our States, our Nation, and our world from bondage!
Kathryn is an anointed woman of GOD, highly sought after for speaking engagements, and strategies in education, training and development, creation, consulting, planning, promotions, and directing of various events. Kathryn is very aware that it is not by her strength alone that she is able to accomplish these recognitions, awards and accolade; it is to her continuing commitment to serve her community and the world, by the power of God within her.
